Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver A.J. Brown sported a fresh Kansas City Royals hat on the “Raw Room” podcast this past Tuesday, and the timing couldn’t be worse. We literally just lost the Superbowl to the Kansas City Chiefs a week and a half ago. Coming in as 1.5-point favorites, the Birds were expected to bring home their second Lombardi Trophy only to see a flaccid Gannon-lead defense give it all away. Maybe the team was busy watching Rihanna perform instead of preparing for the second half (shoulder shrug).
Anyways, here we are 9 days later, and our star receiver is not only wearing another team’s logo, but a team who’s part-owner is none other than… you’ve guessed it, Patty Mahomes. Also, the Chiefs reportedly made a strong push for A.J. at last year’s NFL Draft. So, deep-down, maybe Brown truly does prefer Kansas City ribs over Philly cheesesteaks.
With die-hard Eagles fans outraged, and casual fans confused, Brown went to Twitter to set the record straight. He only wore the KC hat to match his ‘fit,’ says the wide receiver. He just likes the color.
Well, A.J., I can send you a nice royal blue Phillies cap for your next podcast appearance. All jokes aside, put up another 1500-yard, 11-touchdown, season and you can wear whatever you like… except for a Dallas Cowboys’ jersey of course!
